About the moderator
Laura Kina is a queer mixed-race Okinawan American artist based in Chicago (land of the Three Fires Confederacy) whose research and studio practice focus on Asian/Asian diasporic art. Kina is a Vincent de Paul Professor at The Art School, DePaul University.
About the panelists
Shelly Jyoti is a textile artist, poet, independent curator, and fashion designer from Delhi, India. Currently, she is exhibiting her works at South Asia Institute. Her exhibition, “Indigo: The Blue Gold” explores the colonial history of indigo and the impact it had on the cultivators.
Lisa Trivedi is a cultural and social historian of modern South Asia, who received her doctorate from the University of California at Davis. Trivedi is the Christian A. Johnson Professor of Teaching Excellence and History, History Department, Hamilton College.
